A Celebration

At Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge we like to have a good time. We love fishing, and we’re really grateful for the people—our clients and sponsors—who make all of this possible.

The Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge Experience is a celebration. A celebration of fishing, of the Gulf of Chiriquí, of Panama.  It is a celebration of some of the finest brands in sportfishing. It is also something of a fishing tournament, but it is much more.

We’re hosting some of our favorite people in fishing media and industry experts who will be on hand to provide inside access about Grundens, Simrad, and Yo-Zuri.  Then there are the rum tastings and the hand-rolled cigars… and the kick off dinner in Panama City and dinner the first night on the island at our beach front bar.

Fish with and meet our friends and fishing industry ambassadors: Jack Vitek, Editor in Chief, Marlin Magazine, Alex De Santos, Simrad, Pete Robbins, the most widely published writer in fishing, Chris Bishop, VP Marketing at Yo-Zuri, and Elliott Stark, author The Book on Travel Fishing.

Yes, it’s that kind of party. And we’re limiting it to 15 spots.

The Fishing

The Experience features three full days of fishing. We’ll award prizes for the biggest yellowfin and the biggest yellowfin caught on a Yo-Zuri.  We’ll hang these fish from the scale on our beach.

We’ll award prizes for the largest roosterfish, the biggest cubera snapper, and the largest marlin (these will be estimates provided by the captains).  We’ll have a couple other prizes in store as well…

Everyone who fishes the event will take home a sweet gear pack and a Yeti soft cooler full of tuna.

There are swag bags and then there are SWAG bags.

The Format

We’ll fish five boats, three anglers, and an ambassador per boat. Anglers will rotate boats—fishing with different people and a different ambassador each day.

The ambassadors include our brand partners—Yo-Zuri, Grundens, and Simrad—and some of the brightest voices in fishing media. Jack Vitek, Editor in Chief of Marlin Magazine, Pete Robbins, perhaps the most widely published and prolific writer in all of fishing, and Elliott Stark, author of The Book on Travel Fishing.

We’ll also have our buddy Tyler Freeman on hand to capture it all on video.  The result will be one hell of a fishing story—told across all manner of media.

Fishing Targets

The fishing in Gulf of Chiriquí is world-class, and it is diverse. And we’re going to experience it all.

We’ll be chasing tuna frenzies, throwing poppers into tuna on pods of porpoise, live baiting high spots for black and blue marlin, and getting after the cubera snapper and roosterfish on pinnacles and around rocky shorelines.

Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge is the home of the tuna frenzy. We’ll try to put you on one.

This trip will showcase all that the Gulf of Chiriquí has to offer. All while getting the chance to win prizes and getting the chance to come to know some of our most interesting and influential friends in the fishing industry.

This means backstage pass to an incredible fishery and access to some of the most influential voices in fishing.

A Showcase of Panama

The event starts with a welcome dinner in Panama City. Our team will meet you upon your arrival at the airport. As you walk off the plane, they’ll be at the gate awaiting you with a sign with your name on it.

They’ll walk you through customs (you get to skip the line) and they’ll handle your baggage. They’ll take you to our van that will bring you to your hotel.

Leave your formal clothes at home. With any luck, you’ll meet the man in the black suit while you’re here.

We’ll handle your accommodation in Panama City- and all of your transfers to and from the airport. We’ll also handle your domestic transfer to David the next morning. All of this is standard practice for our VIP package.

But here’s the first night bonus. We’re reserving a spot at one of our favorite restaurants in the City. You’ll get the chance to meet everyone and share a meal and a cold adult beverage or two. Panama City is a good time and we’re excited to show you the ropes.

Dinner is on us. We’ll have a night on the town.

The morning of day two, we’ll all fly to David (don’t worry, our driver will take you). Our team will pick you up on arrival, and we’ll take you to the island.

Welcome to our corner of paradise.

June 5, we’ll fly to David and head to the island. Upon arrival at the lodge, we’ll grab lunch, offload your luggage and head out fishing. Half day chasing roosterfish and cubera.

We’ll host dinner that night at our beach bar—Isla Parida Bar and Grill. There is perhaps no prettier, more relaxing place in the world to drink a cold beer. And we’ve got lots of them.

The next morning kicks off three full days of fishing.  Each night, after fishing, we’ll have a Panama showcase—rum tasting, hand-rolled cigars—and of course the incredible happy hour and dinner services for which we are known.

At dinner on June 8, we’ll have our tournament awards. Everyone’s a winner, but whoever caught the biggest tuna, roosterfish, cubera, and marlin will really be a winner…..

We’re Excited. We’d Love to Have You

We’ve hosted TV shows and magazine articles, we’ve fished with guests from all over the world. We’ve done lots and lots of really fun things.

But we’ve never done anything like this. We’d love to have you be a part of it.

Only 15 spots. Your $7,500 includes everything except your airfare to Panama—your spot, your accommodation, your chance to win cool stuff, the chance to meet and fish with people behind some of the best brands in sportfishing, and a sweet gear pack from our friends and partners—you’re likely to wind up in some pretty great videos and stories, too.

Reserve Your Spot. There’s only 15. They won’t last.
