An Experience Like No Other

World-Class Fishing. Private Island. Boutique & Curated.

Our Story

Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge began in 2003 with single boat, a single guesthouse and Captain Shane Jarvis’ plan to come to Panama to “fish for a year.”

We’ve since hosted thousands of anglers from around the world and been featured in Marlin Magazine, Saltwater Sportsman, Anglers Journal, Sportfishing TV and others.

These days, we operate a fleet of five boats. Our handcrafted guesthouses can accommodate up to 24 anglers.

The Lodge experience combines great fishing, really good food, and incredible, natural beauty. We proudly call Isla Parida—located right in the middle of Panama’s incredible Gulf of Chiriquí—home. Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge is owned by its founders, the Jarvis family.

Gulf of Chiriquí

Gulf of Chiriquí

The Gulf of Chiriquí is a tapestry of remote islands, open water, and incredible bottom structure.

It boasts one of the world’s best yellowfin tuna fisheries, is among the best black marlin destinations in the Northern Hemisphere, incredible roosterfish and cubera snapper fishing, and much more.

Remote and pristine, it’s also among the most beautiful places in North America.

Hannibal Bank

The most famous fishing landmark in the Gulf of Chiriquí, Hannibal Bank’s aggregations of black marlin and marauding packs of yellowfin tuna have been attracting traveling sportfishermen for decades. A day pulling live bonito around this high spot is a passport stamp for any serious offshore angler.

Located about 38 miles from the lodge, our boats are perfectly outfitted to show you what Hannibal Bank is all about.

What Our Guests Are Saying

What do hundreds of anglers from all over the world have in common? They love Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge.

This was my third trip with Shane, Feb 2025, and this time we brought a crew of 9. This is the best fishing experience I have experienced or can imagine. It is also a five star, boutique, curated experience in a remote location abutting one of the worlds richest fishing grounds. Amenities, cuisine and drinks are all top notch.
Everything was seamless and Shane Jarvis and his crew attend to all details, arrangements, glitches and the like.

I was a little skeptical when I read all the great reviews but after going I realize they were all correct. This is a top notch operation. Boats, gear and crew were top of the line, I took my 10 year old son and we had 3 amazing days of fishing. They worked hard to get us on the fish and delivered on everything advertised. The lodge was amazing. For an off the grid remote island they had great rooms, a/c, hot water, internet, tv and all that though we were so tired by the end of the day we really just fell asleep. The food and lodge staff were amazing. Everyone was very nice and made the whole trip a breeze logistically.

I can’t believe how perfect this place was. From the initial experience, to the very comfortable lodging, some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, and amazing fishing, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back! Especially for the food!
