January 2020 – Fishing Report

Our 2020 season is off to a strong start here at Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge!  We hosted 5 great groups here on Isla Paridas, 10 miles off the Pacific coast of Panama, and did a few day charters out of nearby Boca Chica. The seas were pretty much flat calm all month, here in the Gulf of Chiriqui, as we ran out in search of action  on our three incredible 33′ World Cat fishing machines!

The fishing did slow down just a bit from the month prior. Although we had some great catches, and saw some good action, the water offshore was slightly warmer and we didn’t see as much activity as we did in December. We had a couple of slow days during the month but it still was pretty awesome as our clients caught over 16 different species including: Black/Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Roosterfish, Bluefin Trevalle, Cubera Snapper, Horse-Eye Jack, Mullet Snapper, Rock Snapper, Broomtail Grouper and more! 

We even had a special guest appearance at the lodge by Cyril Chauquet the star of the show ‘Chasing Monsters’ featured on Netflix and Discovery Channel. Look for the new show from Panama coming soon!!!
