Feb/2016 Panama Fishing Report – We fished 14 days, hosted 3 groups, and a couple of day charters in February 2016 here at Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge on Isla Paridas in the Gulf of Chiriquí, Panama. The “bite” is a bit off still due to the El Nino warm water and a few days of unusually high winds but that didn’t keep us from getting a few nice fish and having a great time!

Bill, Doug, Kerry, and Jill joined us for a few days here on the island first and unfortunately the wind blew like hell everyday! The bite was unfortunately slow as well but we did get a couple of fish and of course…have a good time!

Clinton and his wife from Alaska fished two days out of Boca Chica…one day on the Scandalous with Capt. Tatin and another day with me on the “T.O.P. Cat”. The wind blew like hell again these days but these guys were great sports. They got a few fish nice fish inshore with Tatin the first day but we didn’t do so well on the second day with me as we missed a few opportunities and didn’t catch squat! Too bad as they were really nice folks.

Feb/2016 Panama Fishing Report con’t – The action really picked back up in time for the next group of old buddies from Vail, Colorado…Dallas, Rich, JR, and Jim. These guys were super cool bunch to fish and hang out with and their good karma paid off as we got into some good action and good fish! Nice Yellowfin Tunas on poppers and got a “Yaya” that must have gone 175# for old Jim Cotter. Great sushi by Chef mark that everybody loved! We also got a nice variety of species. We did have a slow day at the end but capped it off with a nice Rooster for Rich to end the day! Thanks so much to these guys as they were truly a pleasure to fish with!

The last group of Bill and Jim from San Francisco, California we hosted were good sports with a great attitude as well. The seas really laid down for the two days with these guys and the fishing wasn’t too bad either. We got Jim his first Sailfish and first Roosterfish. And got into some epic Yellowfin Tuna frenzies with fish going nuts boatside…but pulled hooks on three consecutive Tunas after hooking them on poppers! We did get one little one but the three we missed were fattys! Had a fun time right near the lodge at the end of the second day with some big Jack Crevalles busting poppers. Anyway…great time with these guys as well. Thanks so much for the business gentlemen!

I’m looking forward to March as we have quite a few groups/days booked and it should just keep getting better!

Enjoy the pics…
