April/2016 Panama Fishing Report – We fished 10 days and hosted 3 different awesome groups April 18-28, 2016 here at Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge on Isla Paridas in the Gulf of Chiriquí, Panama.
We are the closest fishing lodge in Panama to the offshore action at Hannibal Bank and Isla Montuosa. A thirty minute boat ride (12 miles) from Boca Chica, and a one hour ride from David’s port of Pedregal, brings you to the largest island in the chain…Isla Paridas. No big industrial commercial fishing operations, and governmental protection of all billfish are a few of the reasons why fishing Panama is so great.
In addition our island lodge is a place where those who do not want to fish can enjoy and have fun while the anglers chase marlin, tuna, wahoo, grouper and more?
April/2016 Panama Fishing Report con’t – The action offshore is no doubt going into full swing as is normal this time of year here. Big Tunas and lots of them are hanging around Hannibal Bank and Isla Montuosa areas. We got into some nice Tunas just 14 miles from the lodge a couple of days but the big concentrations of fish are still down south. We will start to see the fish pushing up north, and closer to the island, over the next few months.
Lots of activity and bait around! Mike Reimer wanted to catch a Tuna on a popper and…HAHAHAHA…he got his wish with a monster 225# fish! Be careful what you wish for!!
We have 17 days of fishing with 5 different groups booked starting May 9 so it ought to be good! Stay tuned!
